Fed up with recent ordinances attacking growers in California’s Emerald Triangle, a group of Tehama County patients have sued the county over its new medical marijuana regulations, which limit the amount of cannabis that can be grown at home and make life much more difficult for cultivators in the largest pot-producing region in America.

After Marc Emery's wife, Jodie Emery, recorded a prison call with Marc to upload as a podcast (not against prison rules), Marc has been in solitary confinement (aka "the hole") for over a week with potentially another two months to go. He now spends 24 hours a day with no stimulation: newspapers, books, magazines, human interaction. This is cruel and unusual punishment.

In Northern California there is a debate raging among commercial marijuana growers over whether they should vote in favor of the Tax & Regulate proposition that is on the November 2nd ballot in California. Some growers fear that legalization will bring in major corporations that will dominate the industry, reducing Humboldt into an Appalachian-type county once again They say, why should we vote for this? It might be putting us out of business.

In a move that has tremendous implications for the cannabis movement in California, about 100 medical cannabis workers in Oakland have voted to join United Food Commercial Workers Local 5, one of the largest labor unions in the state.

CANNABIS CULTURE - I recently received the newly-revised version of Ed Rosenthal's Marijuana Growers Handbook and was so impressed with the vast amount of information it contains, I wanted to give Cannabis Culture readers a brief overview.

The other day a fellow whom I know asked me what I thought was the most important work marijuana activists can do to further the cause. He clarified that he didn't just mean politics, but that he was speaking about the whole movement in general.

Imagine you were a diabetic and you had a prescription for insulin from one state and then when you were traveling to another, you were stopped and your medicine was seized because you did not have a valid prescription from the state you are in. It would make life pretty difficult.
