We knew sooner or later the day would finally come, but we were all stunned when we found out that Marc Emery would indeed be extradited to the United States by the Conservative government of Canada.

...but we hope to have him out on bail again the same day. Marc's bail conditions require that he turn himself in at 9am on May 10th, or when the Justice Minister makes a decision about the extradition. The prosecutor claims that the Justice Minister has all day on the 10th to make a decision, so Marc can get out on bail after 1pm our time (4pm Ottawa) unless he's ordered extradited.

This 4/20 was a real trip: thousands of cannabis-loving citizens rallying together for a day of peaceful protest and celebration - and on the same day, Canadian Justice Minister Rob Nicholson appears from the shadows of Ottawa to re-announce the Conservatives' War on Marijuana Culture.

Marc and I, along with friends, joined the colourful, festive Vaisakhi celebration in South Vancouver, the riding I will be running in federally for the Green Party.

With her husband Marc in jail, Jodie Emery, a Green Party candidate in the next federal election, will inherit his cannabis empire.
