We Were Stunned

We knew sooner or later the day would finally come, but we were all stunned when we found out that Marc Emery would indeed be extradited to the United States by the Conservative government of Canada.

On the day it happened, though we knew extradition was possible, we kind-of assumed that Marc would just go into custody for a few hours to have his bail renewed and figured we’d see him again later that day. As we said our good-byes, some of us had smiles on our faces and told Marc we would see him again in a few hours.

The lawyers told us the day would probably come when our boss and friend would be taken from us, but we were still stunned with disbelief when it actually happened.

Maybe we were stunned because we think Marc Emery is a hero, and we deeply respect his tireless activism and commitment to freedom and liberty, and can’t imagine how someone who has helped so many could be treated so badly by his government.

Maybe it was because we knew that Marc was hardly the drug kingpin the government had made him out to be, and had given all the money he made from seed sales away to fund activist groups without keeping a penny for himself.

Maybe it was because when Marc was a seed-seller, he paid taxes and was completely transparent with the government. He sent donations to many political parties, was the leader of his own registered political party, and was even referred to medical patients by Heath Canada.

Maybe it was because cannabis has never killed anyone and is, contrary to government propaganda, one of the most diverse and useful plants on the face of the earth. Marijuana is an effective medicine, and hemp can be used for many industrial purposes and has the potential to save the planet from many of its environmental woes. Why would they put someone in prison for helping others grow such a wonderful plant?

Maybe it was because we remembered the recent case of a Canadian seed-seller who was arrested and eventually given a $200 fine for doing the same thing Marc did.

Maybe it was because we remembered the recent Conservative scandal starring Rahim Jaffer, a Member of Parliament who was busted for drunk driving and in possession of cocaine, and then let off with a $500 fine.

Maybe it’s because as we look South, we see so many states with legalized medical marijuana and initiatives like the one that could legalize cannabis in California, and felt like it would be hypocritical to send a man to jail for selling seeds to so many who needed medicine.

Maybe it’s because we just didn’t want to believe that the government of a sovereign nation like Canada would hand-over one of their own citizens to another country so easily for charges that were obviously politically motivated, especially in light of recent scandals involving innocent Canadians being handed over to foreign powers for torture.

We should have known.

We should have known that the current Conservative government – the most Neoconservative, backward, science-hating, Jesus-loving group of clicking corpo-fascists this country has ever seen – would be happy to send a peaceful, non-violent Canadian citizen to face the years in prison in an American gulag.

We should have known that Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his Right-Wing Goon Squad have declared war on the cannabis culture, and won’t stop until they lock up every cannabis grower and user in their corrupt and disastrous prison system (so their private contractor buddies can get rich building and maintaining new jails) – or be defeated in an election.

We should have known that our wannabee-American politicians would following the marching orders of US authorities and hand-over one of our own citizens to uncertain punishment at the hands of the largest terrorist organization in the world: the US Federal Government.

Now, the stunned feeling has worn off, and has been replaced with a feeling of determination – determination to see this government removed from power so other non-violent Canadians won’t have to suffer the same fate as Marc Emery.

Now is the time to stand up and fight, to chase these drug-warrior weasels back into their dark burrows, so our cannabis culture can continue to grow freely. We will continue to fight, but we can’t do it alone.

Please CLICK HERE to find out how you can help Marc Emery. Let’s send such a powerful message to these Conservative tyrants that it leaves them with their mouths hanging open – stunned.

Letters to editors seem to have a considerable effect.

Also, at the top of this page:
http://ihydrocarbon.com/solutions has a direct link to the feedback page of the US Department of Health and Human Services, holder of 2003 US Patent No. 6630507, “Cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants”, linked here:

HHS should remove raw cannabis from scheduling, it’s healthy food regardless of THC content and belongs untaxed. Then, place artificial and manufactured cannabinoids in Schedule V.

Freedom of Information Act requests should prove this true. Here is public evidence from March of 2001 that then DEA Administrator Donnie R. Marshall made this now demonstrably false claim in order to issue this* Notice of Denial of Petition:

“Thus, when it comes to a drug that is currently listed in
schedule I, if it is undisputed that such drug has no currently
accepted medical use in treatment in the United States and a lack of
accepted safety for use under medical supervision, and it is further
undisputed that the drug has at least some potential for abuse
sufficient to warrant control under the CSA, the drug must remain in
schedule I. In such circumstances, placement of the drug in
schedules II through V would conflict with the CSA since such drug
would not meet the criterion of “a currently accepted medical use
in treatment in the United States.” 21 USC 812(b).

Therefore, even if one were to assume, theoretically, that your
assertions about marijuana’s potential for abuse were correct (i.e.,
that marijuana had some potential for abuse but less than the “high
potential for abuse” commensurate with schedules I and II),
marijuana would not meet the criteria for placement in schedules III
through V since it has no currently accepted medical use in
treatment in the United States–a determination that is reaffirmed
by HHS in the attached medical and scientific evaluation.”

Millions heve been arrested since HHS applied for that patent in 1999. At that time, the United States Government possessed evidence that cannabinoids are not lawfully in Schedule I. Reparations re long past due, and we’ve been taxed enough.

Also, are there any lawyers reading here?

An amicus brief in Marc’s case from LEAP, NORML or ACLU would generate international press for your organization.

Stun them with legal proof they are breaking the law, and the wall will fall.

these conservatives in power think their job is to punish the masses… anyone that rebel against their establishment will feel their big stick… it does not matter if marc tried to play in their league (political activist) leader of the marijuana party; his extradition shows that they never accepted him… we in the marijuana legalization movement love marc and the great work he has been doing for so many years; brother you are respected all over the world… ‘a prophet is not without honour save in his own country…’steven harper and his conservative goons will not be able to get rid of you even if they send you to america!!! babylon kingdom has fallen ,these canadian conservatives still have their heads buried in the sand… the fact that they choose to deny the truth of cannabis many healing properties and continue to fight against the tree of life is whats shocking… we the cannabis culture know that we shall win this war against us because, we are confident in the victory of good over evil… ras tafari say so; since his coronation the prophesy has been fulfilling so ,let us continue to pray to him for that day to be today… free the treez and let marc go , peace ,love and fire…

They toyed with him. no doubt they knew there decision right from from the start . They let him out on bail the first time to think the Extradition might not be singed and gave him hope, so at the end when they took it all away it would hurt more emotionally. Now it has nothing to do about being against the cannabis culture it has to do with be a Canadian and standing up to our government for our rights.
This goes to show how they can play with our lives like we are there puppets ,which I guarantee we are not. Even though it was a hard blow for Marc it will help us . Now there are more people helping not only from the cannabis culture ,there also people that are out there that seen what the government did and they don’t like it ,we are the ones that gave them the power we shall be the ones that take it away.
It goes to show that the Conservatives are only out for them selfs they do not care about us. If it is good for them who cares what the down fall will be for us the people .When it comes and believe me it will come .There is a big down fall for them to. They can sit back laugh and giggle at us as much as the want. It just shows us and re insures us that they are not the people we want to run our country.
The Conservatives may not be able to read this it is Canadian English format not US

WEll conflicts of interest ,DROPPED COCCAIN CHARGES WITHIN FEDERAL GOVERMENT EMPLOYEE,S, POLICE REPORTS THAT GET BURIED OR LOST-when it involves one of there own,tax problems –hemp– high medical costs-(pain,nerve therapy eating disorder,s) — pot–.I think a man like Marc Emery would have been embraced by our Goverment for showing the way to save millions in COSTS –SHIT NO THEY SELL HIM TO THE ..u.s.a for a $—

Since you mentioned it… there is a class action suit underway against Purdue Pharma…the makers of Oxycontin. The lawyer is Wagner and Associates in Nova Scotia. From what I understand the suit is expected to be in the amount of 100 Million Dollars.
Cannabis helped me to safely detox from an 8 year – 320mg a day RX for Oxycontin…plus 16mg Dilaudid daily for breakthrough pain.
Marc and Jodie have been an inspiration to me. Although I cannot do much in the way of demonstrating etc. I can write the politicians and the media, and I try to speak to someone new every day about What the feds have done to Marc Emery and the issue of our Canadian Soverienty. Marc is a man of integrity and vision, but however strong and intelligent he is… he needs our love and support right now, and so does Jodie. We have a righteous and just cause…the truth must prevail! I Like Emerys’ war-cry… Plant the seeds of freedom and overgrow the government!

Just when you thought the ’60’s were over. Imprisoning people for invoking their right to free speech. This is essentially what they’re imprisoning Marc Emery for. Abbey Hoffman would have had a field day with this fiasco. Marc Emery isn’t being imprisoned for selling seeds, he’s being handed over by our wonderful, trusted, and loyal government, on a silver platter to appease those who wish to make him a political prisoner. Our government could have protected him, but they chose not to.

We have no freedom, we have no rights. You either conform and behave or they’ll wait with bated breath to jump on the first ‘loop hole’ they can hang you with. This is a bogus charge and they can’t silence the majority on this one. Peacefully, we will protest and we will be heard. FREE MARC EMERY!!!!

The “war” on drugs is a sham. It’s pot people, have you ever seen “Intervention” for marijuana? No, because weed won’t destroy your life.
It’s sad to see a man who really helped others being prosecuted for this.I wish they would get the real drug dealers like the pharmaceutical companies, and prosecute them for the deadly, addictive, and expensive drugs they produce everyday. God Bless Marc Emery and God Bless the people that will suffer from the government’s stupidity.

I would like to say sorry… I know it isn’t much. I hope someday this ridiculous “Drug War” is finally looked at and reformed; especially for the cannabis plant.

I don’t know what else to say besides this is a sad thing. Although, Canada should be fighting to help him and not send him.

Oh and if you liked Obama… Well he is a crook just as well as Bush was.

Gary Johnson and Ron Paul 2012.
