Marc and I, along with friends, joined the colourful, festive Vaisakhi celebration in South Vancouver, the riding I will be running in federally for the Green Party.
The Drug Enforcement Administration and Western Pennsylvania District Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan are out to get me again! Buchanan is the woman behind 2003’s DEA Operation Pipe Dreams, in which the DEA went after “paraphernalia” manufacturers and distributors, and entrapped me for a business my son owned and operated called “Chong Bongs” (no doubt motivated by my reputation and what I represent).
I'm on an email list for Green Party candidates, and I brought up discussing the Conservative government's costly anti-drug, "tough-on-crime" legislation when the budget was tabled this week. It created a conversation, and to my surprise, there are Green Party candidates who actually support prohibition! I had to comment, of course. The discussion continues on the email list; thankfully there are other Green candidates helping explain to the ignorant ones why prohibition is bad.
Marc and I watched Olympic Gold Medal hockey game on Sunday on the big screen in our BCMP Headquarters with 100 other people, and then went to join the party on Granville Street later that night. It was such a great time! YAY CANADA!

Marc will likely be extradited next week or soon after, as the Justice Minister will decide to sign the extradition order as early as December 2nd. Please be sure to let your Member of Parliament know about Marc, and also contact the Justice Minister himself (the contact info is at www.NoExtradition.net). We've had a number of organized and individually-planned visits and protests at MP offices, and encourage everyone to continue applying pressure and spreading awareness.
It's almost 11pm on Sunday, November 1st. Five weeks ago, Marc and I were spending our last night together, counting down the 11 hours until his court appearance and incarceration on Monday, September 28th.
I woke up this morning alone, for the 12th day. I get to wake up in a big, soft, warm bed, with the sunshine outside the window, and a hot shower to start the day. Marc wakes up on a narrow steel bed in a tiny cell, with a thick metal grate showing just a small glimpse of the outside world, and an open-space jail shower. It's not fair.
Tuesday, October 6th 2009... I woke up alone for the seventh day, and my husband has been locked up for over a week. It's been only one week without Marc at my side, but it's painful to deal with and I'm told it gets harder as more time goes by.
Jack's awake and out of ICU. He's not talking yet or moving around much. He starts physical therapy on Monday. I just want to thank everyone so much for all the prayers and good wishes. They really seem to be working. Progress will probably be slow so please keep it up.
