The offices of two Manitoba Members of Parliament were targeted by protestors on Thursday, Feb. 21. They are upset about proposed changes to the way Canadians access medical marijuana. They say it could make it more expensive to obtain the drug legally and could force them to turn to the black market for their medicine.

CANNABIS CULTURE - An official at Health Canada says the agency is planning on getting out of the medical marijuana business completely. Health Canada's Director of the Bureau of Medical Cannabis Jeannine Ritchot testified to a judge in an ongoing medical marijuana case that the current licencing program would be replaced with a new system that includes licencing larger-scale commercial growers.

CANNABIS CULTURE - Canada’s doctors have shrugged-off the role of deciding who should be a medical marijuana patient, leaving the Conservative government holding the bag. Can the politicians salvage the MMAR or will pot be legal for all?

Few people truly understand the medical marijuana situation in this country. That is the way it was intended to be. The federal medical exemption program has been flawed right from the start, with only a small percentage of applicants actually receiving exemptions, and a process which is obscenely underfunded and unnecessarily complicated. Most in the general public think that everything is fine because we "have" medical marijuana in this country. They think the legislative battle has been won and this is a closed issue.
