Browsing: decriminalization

CANNABIS CULTURE - Wow. Sensible BC is at the halfway point, and our campaign is on track in many ridings across BC. Our Vancouver Island team has a solid base of support and is gathering momentum. Our teams in Kamloops, Kelowna, and Nelson are shaping up to finish well ahead of schedule. But here in the Lower Mainland, it's a whole different story.

As of this week, the possession of up to 10 grams of marijuana is no longer a criminal offense in Switzerland. Instead, the Swiss have decriminalized the possession of small amounts of weed, replacing possible jail time and a criminal record with a maximum fine of $110. The new law went into effect Tuesday.

I'm very proud of the many activities over the years I undertook to bring the dream of legalization closer to reality. I wish I could be home right now to help with one of the most important cannabis campaigns to ever happen in Canada: the Sensible BC marijuana decriminalization referendum.

The Sensible BC campaign is not welcome at Tim Hortons: not at its coffee shops, and until recently, not on its customers' laptops.
