Thanks to the increasing number of states legalizing recreational and medical marijuana, a new and interesting phenomenon has developed– cannabis tourism.
A few months after California legalized recreational use of marijuana, the Desert Hot Springs Inn in the Coachella Valley began advertising itself as cannabis friendly — a place where guests can smoke by the pool or heat up a vaporizer in the rooms.
Happy hour at the Bud+Breakfast inn smells funkier than most. At 4:20, guests pile into the living area for hors d’oeuvres and good company as they light up marijuana pipes and joints.
As revelers poured in to Colorado last month to mark the unofficial “4/20” holiday celebrated by cannabis enthusiasts worldwide, some soon learned the limits of the state’s marijuana law.
