As a new medical marijuana dispensary is set to open next week in Vancouver's West End, the B.C. Compassion Club Society expressed concern Friday that raids on four pot shops in Montreal could be the start of a disturbing trend of police crackdowns across the country.
Someone threw a molotov cocktail through the window of a Billings, Mont., business that provides marijuana for medical use early Monday and spray-painted "NOT IN OUR TOWN" on its storefront, the second such act in as many days, authorities said.
The shops must close before a long-debated city ordinance takes effect June 7, or face criminal and civil penalties. About 130 dispensaries that registered with the city could be allowed to stay open.
