The lawyer for Canada’s so-called Prince of Pot said Wednesday he’ll appear in a Seattle court this summer to plead guilty to a charge of conspiracy to manufacture marijuana.

In 'jury nullification', a jury in a criminal case effectively nullifies a law by acquitting a defendant regardless of the weight of evidence against him or her. Until our national politicians show some backbone on the issue of marijuana law reform, it's one of the only ways to avoid imposing hideously cruel "mandatory minimum" penalties on marijuana users who don't deserve to go to prison.

Aside from the intrinsic dangers and injustices of arguing for immunity for high-level government officials who commit felonies (such as illegal eavesdropping, obstruction of justice, torture and other war crimes), it's the total selectivity of the rationale underlying that case which makes it so corrupt.
