CANNABIS CULTURE - Ted Smith will be touring again this February to hold community dialogues on hemp, promote his textbook, Hempology 101: the History and Uses of Cannabis Sativa, drum up support for a protest of Health Canada's proposed Marihuana for Medical Purposes Regulations, and to spread the good word about Dana Larsen's sensational Sensible BC campaign. This time he will be visiting some of BC's coastal communities.

As of November, any Canadian caught with as few as six cannabis plants faces a mandatory six-month minimum prison term. Ironically, the new rules came into effect at the same time that Washington state and Colorado voted to tax and regulate the recreational use of marijuana by adults.

Law enforcement officials, academics and government officials gathered in Ottawa this week to discuss how to keep Canadian communities safe at a time when policing costs are soaring. Canada’s failed marijuana policies must be part of this discussion.
