Real Marijuana Experts Should Be Part of Liberal Legalization Talks

CANNABIS CULTURE – As the Canadian government moves forward with legalization plans, it is essential that our leaders seek input from expert advocates and professionals in the marijuana and hemp industry.

For many decades, legalization activists faced criticism and opposition from law enforcement and mental health professionals.

It is now vital that the government take a balanced approach and work with all affected parties, not just representatives from organizations that have historically opposed legalization.

I hope to express to the Liberal Senate Forum – meeting in Ottawa tomorrow – that legalization should mean an end to unjust marijuana arrests, the encouragement of a truly fair and inclusive industry, and a system that fosters increased employment to support economic growth and business opportunities for the benefit of all Canadians.

It’s wrong for taxpayers to be forced to pay for the continued arrests and persecution of peaceful cannabis consumers, growers and distributors.

A truly free and fair legalization policy will be progressive, not oppressive, and allow for marijuana experts from all fields to transition into the legal industry.
