Australian Father Arrested for Giving Cannabis Oil to Daughter With Advanced Cancer

An Australian father faces criminal charges for allegedly administering medical grade cannabis oil to his 2-year-old daughter with advanced cancer.

When Adam Koessler’s daughter, Rumer Rose, was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma, he was told that she had about a 50 percent chance of living. Out of desperation to help Rumer, he started augmenting her chemotherapy treatments with the drug by putting cannabis mixed with coconut in her food. (This form of medical-grade cannabis doesn’t contain any of the elements that lead recreational users to get high.)

Koessler claims Rumer showed remarkable signs of improvement.

“Her cancer ridden little body was alive again,” Koessler shared. “She would say, ‘Daddy tummy’s not sore.’ She would be able to eat like a champion and began to gain weight, her energy was up and wanted to go outside with me instead of lay on her back with legs curled up.”

Koessler was arrested on January 2 at the Brisbane hospital where Rumer is being treated for possession of dangerous drugs and supplying drugs to a minor under 16. His initial bail charges barred him from visiting Rumer, and he and family members took to social media asking concerned citizens to sign a petition calling for Queensland politicians to intervene.
