First Marijuana Commercial Airs on Major U.S. Network

It seems marijuana is, once again, making history south of the border.

On Monday, a TV commercial about a medical marijuana service began airing on Comcast, the largest cable operator in the U.S.

It’s believed to be the first time a major network has shown a commercial about pot, according to, a company that connects patients with pot-friendly doctors in the 21 states where medicinal cannabis is legal.

On Monday, the ad appeared in New Jersey, where it’s expected to air 800 times over the next two weeks. In the coming months it will be shown in other states.

In the commercial, a sketchy-looking street dealer pulls sashimi out of his coat and tries selling it. It ends with the voice-over: “You wouldn’t buy your sushi from this guy so why would you buy your marijuana from him?”
