Impressed With Positive 4/20 Coverage

I’ve been happy to see a lot of very positive coverage of the 4/20 rallies this year. Rather than depicting the crowds as ‘just a bunch of pot-smoking slackers looking for a good time’, the media actually presented us as activists with a political message.

Check out Global TV‘s coverage:

She even mentioned that 10 million Canadian smoke pot! Though I think there was probably more than 5000 people there (the Art Gallery was packed on all sides!), it was nice to see Global call it a 4/20 protest, and say right off the bat that we were there “demanding that marijuana be decriminalized or legalized”.

CTV even had a 15-minute aerial video of Vancouver 4/20 from a helicopter. There’s a bunch more here.

The mainstream media really seems to be (finally) treating the subject of prohibition with some honesty and fair reporting. And it’s not just Canada either – even CNN seems addicted to discussing pot. Fox seems like they’re on board: check out this clip from Family Guy from April 19:

Couldn’t be much more positive than that!
