Fire insurance

Quebec Higher Court, 11 October 2002
The plaintiffs’ house was destroyed by a fire.

Their insurance company refused to pay out on their policy, because the plaintiffs had not informed them that the building had housed a marijuana grow op, that there had been damage and that the electricity had been diverted then disconnected when police seized the evidence.

The plaintiffs lost.
