Renee Boje’s Extradition Looms Closer

Renee Boje, arrested by the DEA in connection with a raid on Todd McCormick’s famous “medicinal-marijuana mansion” (see CC#19), will be in court on November 1, 2 and 3. The judge will be deciding whether to allow the US government to extradite Renee from Canada.

If she is extradited she will face a minimum of 10 years in US prisons, which have been condemned by Amnesty International for widespread rape and abuse of female prisoners.

Recent changes to refugee law have derailed Boje’s attempts to apply for refugee status in Canada. Boje’s refugee hearing has been cancelled. However, the judge at the extradition hearing may decide to grant her refugee status anyway. The extradition hearing, and a possible appeal, are now the only safeguards between Renee and a lengthy prison sentence.

She will be in BC Provincial Court, November 1,2 &3 at 800 West Smithe (Between Howe and Robson St in Vancouver) at 9:30. Your attendance would be an important show of support for Boje’s bid for freedom.

You can also help her tackle mounting legal expenses by buying one of her “Cannabis Certificates”. They can be acquired for a $25 donation to her legal defence fund. Each certificate is redeemable for 1/4 ounce of marijuana when cannabis is legal in Canada. To buy a certificate, send $25 and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to her address, below.
