Prop 19 Wins Around the World

By now, everyone knows the marijuana propositions that would have allowed medical marijuana in South Dakota, dispensaries in Oregon and legalized recreational marijuana in California did not pass, but it won.

Campaigning in California for Cannabis Legalization

Before Marc was shipped from Seattle to a prison in southern Nevada (en route to his designated prison in Taft, California) he told me I should go to California to help the Proposition 19 campaign to legalize cannabis. He was excited for me to do phone calls, hold signs, and whatever else was needed to help Prop 19 win.

CC Goes to California: Marijuana Legalization Vote in Photos

Cannabis Culture was in Oaksterdam for the historic vote on Proposition 19, the California ballot initiative to legalize marijuana. Though we lost the vote by less than 4%, it was an amazing experience to be so close to the action and take part in one of the most significant campaigns in cannabis history. Check out the photos I snapped on our trip:

Steve Cooley Loses Case to Ed Rosenthal

A week after Robert Wooster was arrested, I decided that I would test the law regarding possession of under an ounce going through Bob Hope Burbank, California airport (Los Angeles County). I was ticketed at the airport for the misdemeanor of possession of under an ounce.

The Post-Mortem Crucifixion of Michelle Rainey by CTV

My good friend Michelle Rainey died on Oct.20th, 2010. Everyone is taking their turn sharing their Michelle Rainey memories in honor of her amazing and wonderful life and her significant contributions to the medical marijuana movement. I have my own memories to share …

Remembering Michelle Rainey

As a newcomer to the world of cannabis and activism, I missed my opportunity to really get to know Michelle Rainey. However I was fortunate enough to correspond with her via social media and on a medical cannabis internet forum. Even with this limited contact, I could tell what a lovely woman she was.

Memories of Michelle Rainey

I knew Michelle Rainey for about 10 years. We first met in 1999 when she started working for Marc Emery. I was living at Marc's house on the Sunshine Coast at the time, it was a very busy place with many people staying, coming and going all the time. Marc was looking for a housekeeper, someone to buy groceries, make meals, clean up and keep his household running smoothly.

Goodbye, Michelle Rainey… Rest in Peace.

I cried all day long at our Cannabis Culture Headquarters yesterday, seeing our friends come by to share hugs and try to come to terms with the loss of Michelle Rainey, who succumbed to cancer on Wednesday, October 20th. I couldn't stop the tears and my heart ached. I'm just so sad she really passed away. When I got home, I bawled my eyes out and couldn't stop crying for hours. I'm still crying today.
