California Bill To Allow Vets To Recommend Cannabis For Pets Heads To Governor’s Desk

California Assembly member Ash Kalra authors bill to require the state’s Veterinary Medical Board to provide guidelines for recommending use of cannabis-derived products.

California veterinarians will be allowed to start recommending cannabis products for animal patients under a bill that awaits a signature from Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Authored by Assembly member Ash Kalra, AB 1885 prevents disciplinary action by the state’s Veterinary Medical Board for pet doctors who recommend cannabis for potential therapeutic or health supplement uses.
