An Australian company has been given permission to begin exporting marijuana overseas.
The first tonne is bound for Canada, to be used in medicine, with a further 10 tonnes to be grown in the next three years.
Cannabis remains illegal in most parts of Australia — including Victoria — but the company AusCann has found a loophole by growing the drug on a territory of Australia that is self-governing.
