New Jersey Urine Testing

New Jersey lawmakers are about to pass a bill which permits employers to take blood, hair and urine samples from any employee at any time, regardless of their job. A single drug-positive test would force the employee into treatment. Those in vaguely defined ?safety sensitive? jobs could be fired immediately.

US federal laws already require mandatory testing for all mass-transit operators and heavy-truck drivers. Many police agencies randomly drug test their officers. Connecticut and Vermont ban the type of unrestricted testing described in the New Jersey bill.
