The Global Marijuana March, 2008
by Cannabis Culture Magazine (03 May, 2008)

Get involved in your city and make a difference!

WORLDWIDE - Two hundred and thirty three cities around the world took part in Global Marijuana Marches to demand legalization of cannabis marijuana in 2007. Many of these cities also rallied to support the "BC3" - Marc Emery, Michelle Rainey, and Greg Williams - in their fight against extradition to the USA (www.NoExtradition.net). Marc Emery led the march in Toronto, Ontario in 2007, the biggest GMM in the world with 20,000 people! Marc and his wife Jodie Emery will be in Toronto, Ontario for the May 3rd Global Marijuana March, part of the Toronto Freedom Festival (www.TorontoFreedomFestival.com). This year, 2008, is going to be even bigger and better than last year's record turn-out!

MARIJUANA MARCH HISTORY

The Million Marijuana March was started in 1999 by Cures-not-Wars founder, Dana Beal. The idea for an international march grew out of the annual pro-pot demonstration that took place only in New York City. In its first five years, the Million Marijuana March grew in size and scope. In 2003 there were rallies and marches in over 200 cities around the world. 2004 marked the fifth anniversary of this worldwide event, and in 2005 the name was changed to Global Marijuana March to reflect the international scope of this global march for marijuana freedom.

The 2007 Global Marijuana March had 233 cities signed up. Please upload your posters and photos to the Marihemp Gallery, where yearly collections of photos from cannabis events around the world are stored. Go see the posters available for download now!

Cannabis Culture Magazine and its publisher Marc Emery are strong supporters of the Global Marijuana March, and provided free posters to numerous cities around the world for years. But unfortunately, this generous contribution ended in July 2005 when Marc Emery was arrested, and Marc Emery Direct Seeds, the financing machine for the activist movement, raided and shut down by the Vancouver Police Department on behalf of the USA's Drug Enforcement Administration.

Even worse, the USA is seeking to extradite Canadians Marc Emery, Michelle Rainey, and Greg Williams (the BC3) to face LIFE in prison for selling cannabis seeds... which was done for over 10 years, to finance marijuana activism worldwide! Please read here for more information.
