I read the sad news that Christopher Hitchens, the always controversial and unique wizard of words, died yesterday from complications due to cancer at 62. Hitchens was a well known political commentator and author who publicly advocated marijuana legalization and spoke out against drug prohibition.

A crackdown by federal prosecutors is casting a long shadow over the state’s marijuana industry, but there is one bright spot, at least for some Northern California growers willing to risk prison time: Wholesale prices appear to be on the rise.

In Mississippi all candidates for every office assert they are pro-life but in favour of prohibition. Irony and contradiction abound.
