More than a year after winning the chance to open one of Ontario’s first cannabis stores through a provincial lottery, Lisa Bigioni has walked away from her Niagara Falls pot shop.
Ontario is thinking about changing the lottery system being used to award cannabis retail licenses after the first year of legalization saw only 24 outlets open, with critics panning the lack of access for consumers.
Cities and towns in Southwestern Ontario will soon find out whether they’ll be home to the any of the second wave of cannabis retail stores opening in the fall.
