Hundreds of pounds of industrial hemp seeds bound from Canada to Colorado have been seized by federal authorities in North Dakota, marking the latest bump along the road to legalization of marijuana's non-intoxicating cousin.
Kentucky agricultural officials told the Associated Press Thursday evening that the DEA had approved a permit allowing the state to import a 250-lb. shipment of hemp seed to be used for research purposes.
Hemp seeds could be released by federal officials to the Kentucky Department of Agriculture by Thursday as disagreements between the state and U.S. officials appear resolved.
