Voters in Detroit overwhelmingly approved legalizing the possession of small amounts of marijuana by adults on private property in last month's elections, but according to Michigan Live, local law enforcement agencies are either uncertain what to do or are fully prepared to ignore the will of the voters.

It's a surprise to hear that Dr. Isaiah "Ike" McKinnon, Detroit's former top cop, believes that marijuana should be legalized and is speaking out on the issue.

Despite three visits by Detroit police and officers' warnings that no one should consume marijuana, organizers of the Detroit Cannabis Cup -- a two-day medical-marijuana convention in an Eastern Market jazz club -- said Monday that they went ahead with their contest to pick Michigan's best strains of the drug.
