The BCGEU began job action early September, and late in the month escalated its strike to include liquor and cannabis distribution warehouses. The result: many of the province’s central delivery facilities for cannabis are shuttered or severely slowed.
The BC Liquor Distribution Branch has already imposed quantity limits on product SKUs in response, restricting how much each store can receive per day. For cannabis retailers, that means delays, reduced inventory, and uncertainty.
Luckily, the province has allowed for a Direct Delivery program, that lets cannabis producers supply stock directly to stores, outside of the government’s central distribution and warehousing system.
