Alberta To Promote Local Cannabis This Summer, Temporarily Lowering Provincial Markup

The Alberta government is launching a program to promote Alberta-grown-and-made cannabis products this summer.

Titled “Proudly Alberta,” officially launching the week of August 18, the program aims to support local cannabis producers by making consumers more aware of their products.

The Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) will also be reducing the price of all Alberta cannabis products by 5% for four weeks, from August 21 to September 16, 2025.

The cost reduction will not come from the producers’ bottom line, but from the fee the AGLC charges for distribution.
