State Lifts Pot Ban On Missouri Foster Parents

The stand-in parents of Missouri’s 14,000 foster children can legally keep marijuana in their homes beginning Monday.

But, under an emergency rule filed this week by the Missouri Department of Social Services, pot smoking is still banned inside houses where wards of the state reside or if they are in a vehicle.

The decision means cannabis usage by foster moms and dads must occur outside the dwelling and not inside a car where children are passengers, an agency spokeswoman said.
