CANNABIS CULTURE – Although the island had a massive blackout, which left more than one million people without power three days before the start of the 4/20 weekend, Puerto Rican canniseurs spent the 420 weekend educating and empowering their fellow islanders on the miraculous potential of medicinal cannabis and Latinas Cannapreneurs were on site to cover these historic events.
The Puerto Rico MedCann.Biz event celebrated its First Generation of Cannabis Patients on April 19 and 20th at Vivo Beach Club in Carolina. The third annual event focused on the first generation of patients where educational lectures, patient testimonials and free medical card certification was free of charge for the first thousand registered patients, in collaboration with the Department of Health. The event culminated with 1st edition of Indie Roots Festival which integrated elements of gastronomy, lifestyle education and the celebrating arts and industry.
FreeJuana Foundation took it’s 6th annual march to the Capitol in San Juan on Friday, April 20 at 2pm. This year they honored the former governor, Alejandro García Padilla, who in 2015 signed an executive order for the development of regulations for the cannabis industry in the island.
Moña held its first Moña Fest on Saturday, April 21 at Calle Calma in Santurce. With their motto “Cultivating Acceptance”, Moña held its first ever festival dedicated to the cannabis industry. The event included job fairs for anyone interested in working in the industry, exhibitions, food stations and live music. We met with Jimmy Diaz and mentioned the event was a success despite some political persecution from senators who were against the event taking place.
Now the enchantment island has more than 25,000 registered patients to the medical cannabis program of the Department of Health. These events remain essential to continue education and acceptance of cannabis as alternative natural medicine and unites patients to become part of the evolution of World Cannabis Day.
