Medicinal marijuana users say the closure of a Halifax dispensing club continues to be a big problem as prescription holders put their safety at risk seeking alternative, illegal sources for their pot.
In March, police raided the Halifax Compassionate Club in Porter’s Lake, N.S., a grow-op store in the club’s bottom floor, and the East Chezzetcook home of Chris Enns and Sherri Reeve, the president and vice-president of the club.
During the raids, police seized more than four kilograms of marijuana, along with 300 grams of magic mushrooms, close to 1,000 pills and $50,000 in cash. Three people were charged with trafficking.
Matthew Curtis, who has a medicinal marijuana prescription, said the dispensary shutdown left him with little choice but to turn to drug dealers.
