Preserving the ideal male

When you find a male plant that has everything you want in a male, is it worthwhile cloning it to provide a continuous source of pollen for breeding?

An ideal male is hard to find and is a valuable asset to any breeding program. Its genetics should be preserved. Cloning the plant is an excellent method of providing a continuing source of pollen.

Male plants can be cloned using the same methods used for females. Keeping the male plants under continuous light minimizes their tendency to
flower as they get older.
