Moving clones to HPS light

After you germinate or clone under fluorescents, how should you introduce plants to a 1000-watt high pressure sodium lamp? Do the plants need to be acclimated to the lights gradually? I germinated the plants in four-inch containers under 25-watt compact fluorescents, using one per square foot.

The seedlings were grown under fairly strong fluorescent lighting, but it isn’t nearly as bright as an HPS lamp. The seedling will adjust quickly to the new light and begin a period of rapid growth.

To acclimate plants to the new light, keep the light about three feet above the canopy the first day, then lower it six inches a day until the light is at about two feet above the plants.
