Smoke-out protests planned across Canada

Marc Emery: the prince of pot plans protests.Marc Emery: the prince of pot plans protests. On June 19, Marc Emery, publisher of Cannabis Culture Magazine, stood before the Toronto police headquarters and lit, in his words, a ?Hawaiian lava pipe with onyx bowl containing Blueberry.?
Dozens of cannabis activists did the same, similarly wielding pipes and bongs stuffed with pungent herb.

Emery, who has pushed the boundaries of prohibition by selling top-quality marijuana seeds and starting a host of other pot-awareness projects, including the BC Marijuana Party and Pot-TV, wanted to make a point about Canada?s drug law regarding possession, which an Ontario Superior Court recently ruled was unconstitutional and unenforceable.

“Marijuana is legal in Ontario to possess and it is permissible under law to smoke marijuana anywhere it is permissible to smoke tobacco in Ontario,” Emery told the Canadian Press.

Despite the sweet smell of smoke that wafted gently over the police station, Emery and other activists were not arrested or even harassed.

Emery plans to push the envelope further by holding similar protests in cities across Canada.

?We need all Canadians to know Marijuana is completely legal in Ontario and can be legal in every province if we assert ourselves!? Emery explained. ?I will be speaking at each Police Headquarters and smoking marijuana.?
