A study published in the September 2001 Journal of Neuroscience found “evidence that the cannabinoid system can serve to protect the brain against neurodegeneration.”
The study involved injecting a toxin into the brains of baby rats, some of which had been previously dosed with THC.
The study found that the THC-treated rats had 36% less nerve damage after seven days than the untreated rats.
