The first physical expansion into Europe by a North American cannabis retailer
Calgary-based cannabis retailer High Tide Inc. has opened a flagship store in Germany, marking what the company says is the first physical expansion into Europe by a North American cannabis retailer.
Located in Berlin-Mitte, the brick-and-mortar launch represents a major international milestone for High Tide — Canada’s largest cannabis retailer and the parent company of Canna Cabana. The new store will sell a wide range of cannabis accessories in one of Berlin’s busiest cultural and commercial districts.
Founder and CEO Raj Grover said opening in Berlin represents both a symbolic and strategic step in the company’s global expansion plans.
“Berlin-Mitte is one of Europe’s most influential cultural and retail districts, and launching here instantly positions our brand, Canna Cabana, as a global brand,” Grover said in an interview.
“We’re taking a major step onto the world stage,” he added. “This store is more than a retail opening for us. It’s our strategic entry point into Europe.”
The Berlin store is steps from Alexanderplatz, the political, cultural and creative core of Berlin, and a hub for boutique retail, the company said.
High Tide says the location reflects its commitment to growing a broad European presence across brick-and-mortar retail, e-commerce and medical cannabis distribution.
