Cannabis Culture Lights Up New Facebook Page
CANNABIS CULTURE - Cannabis Culture has launched a new Facebook Page to replace the one deleted recently by the social networking site.

The original Cannabis Culture Facebook Page, which had over 25,000 fans, (and was available at this link) was erased by Facebook administrators on December 23, 2009. Shortly afterward, administrators of the page received an email message:
Hello,
You created a Page that has violated our Terms of Use. A Facebook Page is a distinct presence used solely for business or promotional purposes. Among other things, Pages that are hateful, threatening, or obscene are not allowed. We also take down Pages that attack an individual or group, or that are set up by an unauthorized individual. If your Page was removed for any of the above reasons, it will not be reinstated. Continued misuse of Facebook's features could result in the permanent loss of your account.

Several attempts by CC editors to contact Facebook for more information have gone unanswered, leaving little hope of recovering our 25,000+ fans.
Interestingly, when CC editors attempted to create a new Facebook Page with the words "cannabis" or "marijuana" in the title (in a number of different combinations - even just the words by themselves) an automatic message replied:
Our automated system will not approve the name "cannabis" because it contains a word or phrase that is blocked to prevent the creation of unofficial or otherwise prohibited Pages. If you believe this is an error, please contact our Customer Support team.
The new page is titled "CC Magazine", as the word "Cannabis" is no longer allowed, despite hundreds of other Facebook Pages with the word featured prominently in in the title.
Is Facebook banning cannabis-related websites? Cannabis Culture is exploring the issue and will present more information soon.

I can't believe you would stick with face book and make a new page with them. They dumped you once, so I can assume they will dump you again in the future.

why have a facebook page?
If you want to reach as much of a target audience as possible, you have to keep in mind that most of them will have an account on one, possibly 2 social networking sites. Often they'll have accounts on myspace and face book but one will be dormant. They might have "accounts" on multiple, like youtube, etc. that they never actually use to communicate, but are just there by default because they had to sign up to watch videos marked over 18. So if you're an organization, band, company, etc., you have to maintain accounts on multiple in order to reach the widest number of people in your target market.

I have always taken it as libertarians pot smokers like us are detested by the left and the right. To me it is proof that we libertarians are in our god given right as a human being to smoke pot. What we ingest into our own body is our choice. Because the left and the right who have power are authoritarian who wish to use the force of government to make society in their own images and to compel others to live in their approve way of life. We know that they truly hate us for the choices that we make by ingesting a plant that is a protein when eaten also is a medicine. They hate us so much They will even put us in jail break up family`s all in the name of law. And when the Supreme Court refuses to protect us from the left and the rights religious belief and laws that prove that when Governments appoint a judge that has their same views and beliefs is not a free Country but a dictator ship country just like Canada and the USA. And to say that Canadian soldiers are dying for freedom is an insult to all the solders and a disgrace to their families. The left and the right differences can never be overcome as long as they remain in power. The one thing that will open up people eyes will be a ballooning deficit in which the majority of tax payer will have to pick up the $$$ tab for their way of life because dictatorship will come at a cost. Because a Country cannot be free when ruled by religion dictatorship and under what religion are we being force to follow.

It's fair to say the "left"
It's fair to say the "left" don't want people to blaze. a couple examples being how the NDP treated Kirk Tousaw & Dana Larsen as candidates, or how eNDProhibition has been blacklisted from conventions, how about the ever expanding drug war under Clinton & Obama, both have done their fair share of cannabis and cocaine, yet every day people are jailed for possession.
That said, we need to eliminate this idea of left vs right, it's a divide and conquer technique. We need to stand up for Liberty and fight against Tyranny, the Liberals, the NDP, and the Conservatives offer little to no hope, the Green Party does not appear to be a viable alternative, until we have proportional representation. Then many parties can make a difference, all views could be represented. The Green Party is not THE answer, far from it, but their pot policy is better than the rest...

I would protest this removal as a SLAPP violation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strategic_lawsuit_against_public_participation ) and urge anyone involved in setting facebook policy to prevent this sort of hampering of free speech.

Has anyone noticed that auto complete, or the "computer will guess what you want to type in to look for" on Google works incredibly well on everything BUT Medical Marijuana. WTF? I am the only person on the planet named Cottie Johnson and after googeling my own name for 9 years if one types in c o t t i e by the time you type J o my name cottie johnson and all the sites I appear on, including the Marin Scope Article titled judging marijuana, pop up. Yet you can type m e d i c a l and see thousands of suggestions that suddenly disappear completely by the time one has typed m a r i j u.....now are they telling us that a search engine with the aforementioned letters typed in CANNOT even guess as to what the user is looking for?

I don't know why people are so dumb as to use social networking sites. It's all government surveillance one way or the other, e-bay screwed pot people a while back, you are a fool if you put your personal info and connections onto the net. It's a NET, right? You know what nets do? They catch things and the things that are caught are then killed. That's why I use a proxy server and cloaking. Whenever you use the internet you are being logged and coded. MySpace has over 100 million more members than Facebook anyway. CC's Facebook page should be nothing more than a link to their MySpace page. Why help Facebook by putting something more than that?
