Sex while young

Can you detect sex without vegetating the plants?

Is there a way to sex plants at a young age so I don't have to vegetate them all until flowering?
Peter,
Internet

Sexing plants early sets their growth back and can mess up their sexual expression. An effective way of determining sex is to use a proxy. Take cuttings from the young plants once they develop side branches. Mark each cutting so its clone mother can be identified. Place each cutting in rooting medium or in a jar with an inch or two of dilute nutrient water, then place in a space with a regimen of 12 to 16 hours or more of uninterrupted darkness. Soon the cuttings will indicate sex. The clone mothers will be the same sex as the clones taken from them.
