Parabolic lights

Are parabolic reflectors as good as other types?

I am considering buying a parabolic light system, but was wondering if it is as efficient as the other types of reflectors.
Ganga Lover,
Internet

Parabolic reflectors hold high intensity discharge lamps vertically. The light element runs much of the length of the lamp. The light is emitted horizontally. If the reflector is as deep as the lamp's length, it deflects the light and redirects it down, towards the garden, rather than spreading horizontally.

Horizontal reflectors hold the lamp horizontally. Much more of the light shines on the garden without a reflector and the rest is directed down. In several tests, horizontal reflectors outperformed verticals by wide margins.

Horizontal reflectors have other advantages. They are smaller and many models are air-cooled ready.
