Synthetic pot for brain injury

Injectable cannabidiol protects against nerve gas

The Pharmos Corporation in Israel has been awarded a grant of $1.7 million US by the Israeli government, to develop dexanabinol as a medicine for traumatic brain injury. Dexanabinol is a synthetic, injectable version of cannabidiol. Dexanabinol's creator is Professor Raphael Mechoulam, who discovered THC in 1964 (CC#16, Marijuana protects your brain).
US military tests on rats have shown that those exposed to dexanabinol were 70% less likely to suffer epileptic seizures or brain damage after being exposed to nerve gas. Dexanabinol appeared effective as both a preventative measure and as an antidote.
