A massive UK cannabis trial was dismissed in February, due to police and prosecutor incompetence.
Judge Crush blasted the prosecution's "cavalier attitude" and "culture of non-disclosure and non-compliance." He also criticized Kent cops for bribing a suspect to become an informant and failing to record evidence against police.

Police alleged that during 1996-98, a gang smuggled ?12 million of pot resin into Britain, hidden in consignments of detergent, cement mixers and shoes. Police intercepted only 800kg of cannabis.

The case involved Kent police, Scotland Yard and the National Crime Squad, and took more than two years to bring to trial. It was dismissed after 11 weeks of legal argument.

Those charged include a police officer, Detective Sergeant John Bull, his brother and six others.
