There are not many professionals who will speak on this topic so I thank you so much for your unbiased 2 cents, Dr. Kate. I have smoked very lightly, off and on, after about month 6 of my pregnancy and my pregnancy has progressed quite nicely with baby healthy, active and developing normally. I would never put my baby in danger. Pot (homegrown) has never harmed me so I feel it is safe in small amounts and shouldn't harm my baby in utero. It's relaxed me during my pregnancy and I have actually achieved enhanced cardiovascular benefits from it (I used to take a puff or two before running (upwards of 10 miles 3x per week) prior to becoming pregnant and it enhanced my endurance). It has made my daily power-walks more pleasurable and helped me navigate through my Braxton Hicks contractions (& relaxed me) without a hitch. It's given me more of a handle on my pregnancy sensations and has empowered me by helping me mentally navigate the sensations better. I have no doubt that it would do the same for me during labor.

My opinion, for what it's worth: Pot (homegrown) is okay to smoke while pregnant (in limited amounts) especially if you are drinking 2 quarts of H2O a day, staying active (I'm talking 90minute power-walks, as approved by doctor of course). I intend to use THC during labor (if I feel I need it; I may not) and I intuitively know it will be a good tool to help ease the mental and physical intensity.

I will be back to give an update on my experience. Thank You.
