Herby's Twist are plastic bud grinders, but ball-shaped, and with a magnetic bond between the halves. Each grinder is colored and decorated, with design options including a pot leaf, an eight-ball, a smiley face, or a bulls-eye.

How do you choose the best males?
O'Con,
Tusket, Nova Scotia

First decide on the characteristics that you are looking for. Aroma and flavor, growth habits, potency and quality of high, ripening time and resistance to pests and disease are some of the factors that you might track.

S.D.,
Bakersfield, California

Filling the tray with water serves two purposes: it supplies moisture to the cube so that the roots can draw up more water and it adjusts the composition of the nutrient solution.

Yes. Plants absorb water and nutrients through openings on the leaves called stomata. These pore-like openings also permit CO2 to enter and release oxygen.

Growing and pee tests

Often, after working with the plants, I sit down and inhale the wonderful aroma of the oils smeared on my fingers.

Will regular handling during daily care of the plants cause a positive on the pee test?

Yes. Cannabis will thrive in a well-maintained vegetable garden. Vegetable gardens are grown in full sun, receive adequate moisture from rainfall, groundwater or irrigation and are supplied with nutrients through enriched soil or fertilizing.

The 417-page book, currently available only online as an e-book, details Canadian author Paul Wylie's year-long imprisonment in a horrific Nicaraguan prison. Wylie's crime? Growing industrial hemp, with the written permission of the Nicaraguan government (CC#27, Nicaraguan hemp nightmare).

Because the lights have to be kept so far from the plants, I'd only have about two feet to grow in. I am considering using 50 or 100-watt compact fluorescents instead. What do you think?
In nine chapters, the reader is taken from the ancient world to the modern, and shown how the history of cannabis and humanity are intertwined. The medicinal uses of marijuana are explained, as are the industrial aspects of the plant.

Growing pot outdoors is not as easy as you would think. If you want to grow a quality product you have to approach the issue as a business.

It was in the winter of 1980 that I first branched out from simply vending quality pot to actually growing and processing it. I was part of a small group of entrepreneurs in the Southern Oregon area, and soon we were growing massive amounts of bud.

I use an aquarium-style bubbler/aerator to add air to a 35-gallon barrel of nutrient-enriched water. Would there be any benefit in adding oxygen from a tank prior to flooding the plants? I know how important it is to give the roots lots of oxygen.
Is adding pure oxygen to the water overkill?

Last September 2003, Canadian military police tore up 983 marijuana plants found growing in an active artillery range. Perhaps the perpetrators, who were never arrested, were just trying to get more bang for their bud.

Should I grow or should I not?

I have a hard time believing that they can find many growers since Texas is such a large state.

A Kentucky woman's kids were so proud of their family hydroponics operation, that when police knocked on the door to investigate a noise complaint in June 2003, the cops were invited in and shown right to the plants.

Size of grow hole

I am growing in an area with clay-loam that was farmed for a long time and then left fallow. There are some grasses and bushes growing, but nothing looks really healthy.
My plan is to dig planting holes for the six plants I plan to grow. What size should they be, how should I construct them and with what should I fill them?

Slow ripening

After growing more than 20 strains, I've found that almost all varieties take longer to mature than advertised. Using CO2 has been the only way to harvest ripe buds at the suggested date. Any time that I haven't used CO2, I've fallen behind by two weeks or more.
