I was told to keep my light on 24 hours a day during vegging, but then someone else told me that the plants wouldn't use much more than 18 hours of light a day, so I would be wasting light and electricity. Could you clear this up for me?

When do we start calculating flowering time? Do we start when the light cycle is reduced to 12 hours, or once we see the first signs of flowering?

Flowering time begins when the light cycle is reduced and lasts until ripening.

A study published in the September 2001 Biochemical Pharmacology showed that a synthetic cannabinoid produced anti-tumour effects in mice. Ajulemic acid is a patented compound owned by Atlantic Technology Ventures, with the trade name of CT-3. CT-3 is a synthetic derivative of a non-psychoactive THC metabolite called "THC-11-oic acid."

A pair of studies have shown that marijuana's effects on cognitive performance are minimal and easily reversed. A Harvard study in the October 2001 Archives of General Psychiatry compared heavy pot smokers, light pot smokers and non-tokers with a battery of neuropsychological tests.
Four cognitive tests were performed after zero, one, seven and 28 days of cannabis-abstinence. Current pot smokers showed no deficits on three of the four cognitive tests.

Death spray

I recently misted one of my plants with a spray bottle that I later learned had been contaminated by some kind of cleaning spray. The plant was in its third week of flowering. I misted the plant for three days before I could tell that something was going wrong.
The leaves that were soaked with the spray are now turning yellow and drying out. New growth on the plant appears to be unaffected.

I'm growing four plants, two in each 8-inch pot under a 150-watt high pressure sodium lamp that shields UV light. They are now two weeks old and are growing a treat!
I live in a part of the UK that's fairly cloudy. However when we do get a glorious sunny day, I place my plants in the window to get as much of the natural light spectrum as possible. When it gets dark or cloudy, they go back on the lamps.

A study in the September 2001 Journal of Analytical Toxicology found a way of urine testing that differentiates between the use of synthetic THC and the use of marijuana. The study found that a metabolite of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) was found in the urine of cannabis users but not in that of those using the pharmaceutical drug Marinol.

I think I am having a stress problem with my plants. When flowering, the plants stretch instead of budding, and some plants develop male traits near the end of the cycle and stop the budding process.

I have two plants that I put into a flowering light cycle (12/12) about three weeks ago. One plant has scattered male flowers among the female buds. The other plant shows no sign of male flowers.
I have separated the two plants to prevent the "good" female plant from being contaminated by the pollen of the second plant.

Light speed

I have 30 wonderful and very healthy girls ranging from 14 to 30 inches tall. We are now beginning to flower. I wondered if there is a significant difference in yield if I go two weeks at a 12/12 light/dark light cycle, and then drop down to 10/14 in order to hasten ripening? I've been told that there is a difference but not much.

Your grow room is 13 square meters (about 120 square feet). A 1000-watt metal halide is most efficient at lighting a space of about 1.5 meters (13 square feet). The two lamps will light an area of 3 square meters, which is 1.5 x 2 meters.

I am from Brazil and smoke pot daily, but the laws here are very hard on the users and dealers alike. When I started smoking all we got was fresh maconha from the northeast of Brazil, but the police officers had strangled the growers 10 years ago to encourage coca trading. That is more profitable for the corrupt cops here.
