On April 27, 1999, four Toronto police officers raided a home looking for khat, a stimulating herb popular in Somalia, arbitrarily banned in Canada in 1996. Abdulkadir Mohamoud was in that home, visiting his brother and friends, when police smashed down the door and terrorized the residents. Mohamoud's elbow was broken and he was knocked unconscious by police after being hog-tied with telephone cord and kicked twice in the head.

In December 2000, a court judge ordered the Humboldt County Sheriffs Department to return less than a half ounce of pot to Chris Giaque.
The bud was seized from Giaque during a routine traffic stop in 1999, even though Giaque was carrying the ID card identifying him as a legal marijuana user.

Police charged Giaque with "marijuana transportation" and also with disturbing the peace and resisting arrest after he protested their actions.

A 12-year old girl in Oklahoma reported on her parents' use of marijuana, resulting in her parents being arrested and charged with "possession of controlled dangerous substances in the presence of a child under 12" and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The girl brought some of her parents' pot to her school principal, who notified police. The couple were charged January 3.

Dutch Office of Medical Cannabis

The Dutch government has established an Office of Medicinal Cannabis within the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports, to study the medical benefits of pot, and provide it to those in need. The new agency plans to recruit growers to provide cannabis for clinical studies.
Minister Els Borst-Eilers has stated that if the clinical studies provide positive results, a supply of licensed cannabis products would be made available to patients, researchers, and pharmacists.

Also, do you think the extra light is a benefit because of faster vegetative growth or a detriment because of having to force flowering?

After the plants begin to flower should I leave them on 12/12 of light until harvest? I've read that once the flowers begin to form, the light period is not as important. It seems to me that any light over the 12 hour period would put the plants back into the vegetative state.

It depends on why the plants are hermaphroditic. If the plant produced male flowers as a result of stress there is a good chance that most of the progeny of the self-cross will be female. If the hermaphrodism is a hereditary trait some of the plants will be female and some hermaphrodite.

Marijuana planted in a hemp field will be pollinated by the hemp. The buds will be potent but will not yield much because they will be well seeded. The seeds will have dubious potency.
