New sexing technique

Can 36 hours of darkness tell sex?

Some of my grower friends are using a new technique for sexing new plants.
They change lighting from 18/6 to 36 hours of continuous darkness then change it to 12/12. The males start showing in 2 or 3 days, females a few days later. What do you think about this?

I think this is a very interesting way of determining sex or quickly forcing flowering. It's worth an experimental try. I have several ideas about it. It would be a very efficient way of using the cut method ? taking a cutting to check the clone mother's sex. Also, when forcing a plant it might cut the length of the conversion period and lessen vertical growth.
