Smoke Signals (cc09) - Titanic Hemp Lifeline

HEMP

An authentic piece of hemp rope, carefully preserved from a lifeboat from the ill-fated Titanic, was recently displayed on the very New York dock where survivors from the ill fated maiden voyage stepped ashore to safety in 1912. Relatives of the survivors recently gathered to view the sacred hemp which helped save 7,054 of their foreparents from a cold, dark demise that claimed 1,523 less fortunate passengers and crew.  The unveiling of this sacred safety line was the first time many of these Titanic heirs had ever met, let alone seen the brown coils of the lifeboat rope which rescued their ancestors, and made their own existence possible.
