2001 was the biggest year for sales of Marc Emery Direct Seeds. It sure needed to be! All the profits that year (as was the case every year), $700,000, were directed to non-profit projects in the US, Canada, and around the world. The two most demanding on money were Pot TV, which needed $270,000 for just 2001 alone with no revenue stream at all, and the British Columbia Marijuana Party provincial election campaign of March to May 2001.

So my transfer application to serve the remainder of my sentence in Canada is dead, I figure. Despite getting approval from the U.S. Department of Justice and having the endorsement of my prosecutor, the judge who sentenced me, and Corrections Services Canada, the Conservative Minister of Public Safety Stephen Blaney isn't signing on.

I'm very proud of the many activities over the years I undertook to bring the dream of legalization closer to reality. I wish I could be home right now to help with one of the most important cannabis campaigns to ever happen in Canada: the Sensible BC marijuana decriminalization referendum.

Today is June 3rd, and there are 766 days left to my release date of July 9th, 2014. I've served 823 days, and with my good time credit, I've got 1,058 days behind me on this 1,825-day (5-year) sentence.

It's Monday, April 2nd, 828 days to go to my release date of July 9, 2014. Although I get 'released' from prison on that date, because I am Canadian I have a 'detainer' on me, so what happens is US Immigration picks me up from the prison and takes me to an immigration detention center, puts me before a judge where I confirm I want to be deported back to Canada, and then I'll wait in an immigration jail until they put me on a plane to Vancouver with some US Marshall escorting me.

My 54th birthday on Monday, February 13th was spent being sick, my first real malaise since last June or July (I've been in great health otherwise). I was dizzy and unable to stand without being queasy. I believe it was from the vitamin fortified oatmeal I had before bed; vitamin supplements don't seem to sit well with me.

I chose that title for today's Christmas blog because I do believe it is a wonderful life, and it's much too short. The Frank Capra Christmas classic "It's a Wonderful Life" was a reminder to: 1) never underestimate the good you have done and the good you can do in the world, 2) be grateful for the love you have, and 3) be grateful for whatever you do have, it could be much worse!

In my 20-plus months in prison for this 'legalization' offense (to quote DEA head Karen Tandy), I've received about 3,000 letters from supporters, 95% of whom I have never met, and responded to about 1,250 of them.

Today is November 1, 980 days to go till my release on July 9, 2014. There are two possible hopeful scenarios that could shorten that wait. One is the petition to "Pardon Marc Emery" which appears at www.WhiteHouse.gov in the "We The People" section. On September 22, that petition initiative website was launched and any petition that obtained 5,000 signatures within 30 days was promised a response from the White House.
