The random marijuana buy is possibly the most stressful transaction some stoners are ever going to make because there’s plenty of fear around meeting a friendly stranger to buy ganja. Mostly around getting ripped off, but a few folks worry the police are going to sting them for a $40 sack. Police handouts (where cops sell a pothead a wee bit of pot) are not common in Toronto for cannabis. Afterall the police are the trafficker and purchaser is the possessor.
We investigated how to buy pot from a stranger in Toronto for episode 163 of The Mernahuana Zone on Tuesday and I was surprised how easy it was to score cannabis in an hour. Traditional late night television shows would have scripted this segment and done something totally fake, but not our weekly webcast.
We bought bud live during the webcast!
During summer months many astute tourists cruising Yonge St. discover bring your own bud lounge Vapor Central, where TMZ is webcast from every week. Depending on the traffic light, the double decker tourist bus is stopped outfront frequently. However, VC has a very strict policy of not allowing people in who are fishing for pot. Nor can you ask staff or members to buy some pot. You get tossed out on your ass if you do.
The original code is, no fishing, no asking, no mooching, no dealing.
Polite people from out of town will ask where they can find some cannabis because they want to partake in Toronto’s awesome weed scene. Kensington Market has plenty of street action, but the bike cops are also out in force. Church and Wesley is also a place for street dealing. Jay and Silent Bob haven’t appeared at the new 711 on Yonge St. just south of VC, but I’m sure they will in time.
Sending people into the streets to score is horrible (legalization!) and I’ve been recommending random strangers who ask me to try Craigslist. The postings are there, but I haven’t tried it myself.
Using Craigslist Toronto we did a “420” search. Several ads popped up and we read them off. Every weed dealer was offering the kush and fast downtown delivery. It’s ganja gutsy to be out there hustling dimes, quarters, and half ounces.
We picked a dealer selling kush downtown and called.
