Former B.C. Premier Mike Harcourt has become chairman of medical marijuana company True Leaf Medicine Inc.
He said the firm — which plans to grow and distribute cannabis from a facility in Lumby — will deal with concerns about safety, reliability and scientific efficacy raised by new medical marijuana rules set by the federal government this year.
Under the new rules, physicians will be required to prescribe cannabis.
“By separating fact from folklore, True Leaf has an opportunity to fill in the knowledge gap for both doctors and end users when it comes to aligning a specific ailment with a documented cannabis remedy,” Harcourt said in a news release.
