Billed as an exclusive event catering to medical marijuana users and the licensed growers who supply them, the Kush Cup does indeed include three days of intensive judging of the products to determine whose weed reigns supreme. However, there is more to the multi-day event than just honouring the finest herb.
In its second year, it has expanded to include a Vancouver Health Expo, live music and comedy performances and some serious parties for everyone.
“It’s a multi-layered event with two aspects to it, the health expo and the entertainment experience,” said organizer Mark Klokeid.
“There is the big Vancouver Health Expo at the PNE, which includes all aspects of alternative health treatments — including medical marijuana — with keynote speakers, exhibitors and workshops on things such as cryogenic therapy, deprivation tanks, some UBC kinesiology graduates and so on.
“I also knew we needed some similarly themed entertainment and we’ve got some really excellent talents.”
Chappelle Show cast member Charlie Murphy — younger bro’ of Eddie Murphy — headlines Saturday’s show at the Centre for the Performing Arts with Randy and Mr. Lahey of the Trailer Park Boys and MC Dave Warden hosting.
